I made this cake for a wedding shower. The invitations were teal with a black filigree/damask print on them that matched the design on the cake. I used ribbon around the bottom of each tier. The black frosting is royal frosting. I've found that if you make it a day or two in advance, put it in a Ziploc bag and let it sit for a day or two, black gets much darker.

Cookie Monster Cookies & Cake
For Andrew's 3rd birthday this year, we had a Cookie Monster theme. Mostly because I had seen these cupcakes on Pinterest and just HAD to make them. I made some cookies as favors. I bought a cookie cutter set from Williams Sonoma that included Cookie Monster and frosted them using a royal frosting.
The cupcakes turned out cute. I used candy melts for the eyes with royal frosting for the pupils. Store bought cookies cut in half worked best (I think I used Famous Amos, since they are on the smaller size). I used the grass tip for the fur (the one with several small holes in it).
The big Cookie Monster was made using the stand up bear pan. I trimmed off the ears and used cake pops for the eyeballs. I didn't realize until the party was starting how much of a frown he had. Guess he ate too many cookies! He is sitting on a giant chocolate chip cookie.
