Turkey Cake Pops and Acorns

For Thanksgiving I made these turkey cake pops. I used candy corn for the tail feathers, tan candy melts, a heart sprinkle and some orange candy melts for his face.

Just had to make these acorns when a friend showed them to me. So easy too!  Get some Hershey Kisses, mini chocolate chips, and bite size Nutter Butters or Nilla Wafers (I made some of each).  "Glue" the mini chocolate chip onto the cookie and the cookie onto the Hershey's Kiss with some melted chocolate. I used dark chocolate candy melts. Yum!

Minnie Mouse Cake

For Katie's 2nd birthday I made a Minnie Mouse themed cake. The hat is half a ball cake, covered in Wilton Black candy melts. I wanted it to match the ear color.  I used a large circle mold to make the ears.

The cake pops are also dipped in black candy melts. I used a small circle mold to make the ears, but you could just use a candy melt if you wanted.  The bow was made in a candy mold as well.

The cupcakes used the same ears and bow as the pop.  With some frosting polka dots on top.

So cute!

Pink Cupcakes

I made these for an Asian themed birthday party.  It was hard to come up with something, but I think these did the job.  I use a big tip 1M for the main frosting. Two swirls, one big around the outside edge of the cupcake and one smaller on top of the first closing into the center of the cupcake. Some pink pearl sprinkles for the flower centers and edible pink glitter for a little sparkle.

Pumpkin Cake Pops & Mummy Dogs

I just loved these ghosts our friend put in their yard. So cute!

Here are the Mummy dogs I made for the party.  So easy, crescent roll dough strips wrapped around hot dogs and baked. Add mustard eyes when done baking.

Then I made some pumpkin cake pops. I used a tic tac for the stem and painted on their faces with melted Wilton candy melts.

Butterfly Cakes

I made these butterfly cakes for Micaela's first birthday. The big butterfly was made with Wilton's butterfly cake pan on top of a sheet cake. I also made some butterfly shaped cake pops using a butterfly ice cube tray and Bacerella's cake pop recipe. My son helped to put the sprinkles on the cupcakes.

Beach Cupcakes for Royal Family Kids Camp

This week I have been getting ready for the Royal Family Kids Camp birthday party. Several churches in town come together to put on a camp for kids ages 6 to 12 who are in foster care. All the campers come to camp through Social Services.  The main purpose of camp is to provide these kids with a week of positive memories in a Christian environment. Each camp counselor only has 2 campers, plus there are numerous support staff that are always around.  I spend my time baking for the birthday party where every camper get their own personal birthday cake.  Very often this is the first cake they have ever had that has been personalized just for them.  I started participating in this portion of the camp 10 years ago when it first started here in Santa Barbara.  So here we are 276 campers later...276 lives changed for the better. I love to hear the stories of these kids lives have had such a positive impact from a week of camp, how attitudes and behaviors change for the better, and how for a week, these kids have a safe place to be where they don't have to worry about how there lives are back at home.  I wish we could do more, but I am also glad that I can do something to make a difference in the life of a child.

The main website for Royal Family: http://www.royalfamilykids.org/

I made sugar cookie surf boards for all the kids, personalized with their names on them.

Here's the finished assembly.  Beach cupcake, complete with fish sprinkles in the water, and a palm tree with a monkey. I wrote Happy Birthday on each plate and set the surfboard in front of each cupcake.

I also made cupcakes for the staff and put them together for a beach theme.

Owl Cake

I made this mini owl cake for Mimi's 1st birthday.  I used the mini stand up bear pan, trimmed the ears and cut off her legs to make it more into an owl shape. Otherwise, just decorated with a whipped frosting & M&M eyes.  I used a star type tip to make her look a little fluffy.

Here are the cupcakes that Malorie made for the party. Loved to eat those Oreo eyes!
